Safe Spaces are quiet, private rooms where anyone experiencing abuse can take a moment to reflect, find support information, or contact someone they trust.

 

You can find Safe Spaces in Boots, Morrisons, Superdrug, Well pharmacies, TSB banks, and many independent pharmacies across the UK.

If you're in danger but can't speak:

  • Call 999 from a mobile phone

  • If you can cough or tap your phone to signal to the operator 

  • Press '55'

  • Your call will be transferred to the police

  • The police will usually be able to find your location.

SOS hand signal for help (used to indicate you're in danger or need help silently):

​

  1. Hold one hand up in front of you, palm facing out.

  2. Tuck your thumb across your palm.

  3. Fold your four fingers down over your thumb – this shows you're "trapping" your thumb.

​

  • Make the movement smooth and continuous

  • Repeat the gesture if possible to make sure it's seen and understood.
