Counselling in the Community
Receives The King’s Award for Voluntary Service
We are proud to announce that Counselling in the Community (CITC) has been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service 2025. The highest honour a local voluntary group can receive in the UK, often described as the MBE for volunteering.
This incredible recognition celebrates the dedication of our volunteers who work tirelessly to make mental health support accessible, affordable, and compassionate for people across Blackpool and beyond.
From counselling sessions starting at just £5, to providing free support in times of crisis, we ensure that cost is never a barrier to getting help.CITC is one of 231 charities, social enterprises, and voluntary groups to receive this prestigious award this year.
It’s a powerful reminder of the impact volunteers have in strengthening communities and changing lives.Representatives from CITC will receive the award crystal and certificate from Mrs Amanda Parker JP, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, and two of our volunteers will attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in 2026.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We are truly humbled and deeply grateful to receive The King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
For a small charity here in Blackpool to be recognised with such a prestigious honour is nothing short of incredible.
This award shines a light on the dedication and compassion of our volunteers, who give their time and energy to ensure that no one faces mental health struggles alone. Being acknowledged at this level means the world to us.
It validates the work we do every day and reminds us that even the smallest organisations can make a big difference.
The biggest thank you to the King’s Award team for recognising our mission and the impact we strive to create in our community.
